LOVE CREATING

I have always enjoyed most of all aspects of art. From graphic, computer-based designs to creating pottery. From creating a painting, to learning photography and understanding the world of a DSLR. But another part of creating that I have always enjoyed has been baking.

Funny thing is I HATE to cook. I have never enjoyed it. But baking? There is something so nostalgic about baking. It makes me remember the days of standing in the kitchen as my mom was making homemade donuts back in the day. The house smelled amazing. It was just incredible to see how taking something from a few simple ingredients can completely transform it into something totally different. Something that would bring everyone around the table. Something that would put a smile on everyone's faces. And I loved every minute of shadowing my mom and learning the tricks and tools of the trade.

This is a blog that is designed to help inspire, teach, and entertain if you are already a baker or thinking of beginning the journey. Especially in the world of sugar cookies! So enjoy!

Why Baking?

Some people have their yoga. Some people like to read. Some people like to go for walks. I enjoy all of those things too, but there is something about baking that is so special. Maybe it's the look on my family's faces when they see fresh baked cookies straight out of the oven. Or maybe it is when they are greeted at the door to the smell of freshly baked, sinfully delicious, sea salted double chocolate chip cookies. (why sea salt? because if you haven't done enough baking to know, salt and chocolate are a perfect match! The salt seems to highlight the "chocolati-ness" of the chocolate. You cannot go wrong when you add a touch of sea salt to most of your chocolate baking. But i'll get more into this as I post! ;-)

Behind Creative Curl Cookies

what started as an occasional cookie creation bloomed to a cookie business that I run right out of my home. I opened an Etsy shop first to gain some experience and perfect some skills. It

started a little slow, but soon took off! The reception completely surprised me! (and still does).

the bottom line; I love art. All aspects of it. I have dabbled in most forms of it and have even taken courses of study on most. I have a background in photography, commercial art, graphic art, illustration, and painting. But I have also always loved baking. So as a stay at home mom, I combined those 2 passions into one! Most of this is channeled when I do my custom sugar cookies. But I think all aspects of baking as an art. If nothing else, this gives me the platform to share my love of photography with others. If you are the type that is easily influenced and entertained by delicious photos of cookies, then this is right up your alley.
